Winter Magic in the Blue Mountains

About 20 members of FABCBM participated in the Grand Parade at the Winter Magic Festival held on June 21 which celebrates the Winter Solstice here in our beautiful part of the world. The weather was more than kind, with yet another not so winter’s day, (but we won’t mention climate change – more than once, anyway).
We received great support with cheers and clapping from sections of the very large crowd, estimated at over 40,000 according to the ABC news. We took the opportunity to hand out our Save Your ABC Threatened flyers as we trundled along. Our posters looked fabulous our balloons too, although we could have done with many more of those, and balloon numbers weren’t helped with quite a few popping well before we set off.

We had people dancing to the Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries theme and children singing along to Bob the Builder. Something a little louder next year could have the whole crowd dancing and singing too.

All in all it was great fun and thanks to all who shared in the day.

In addition to the very big day on Saturday a couple of our members involved in another cause close to their hearts took the opportunity to share our flyers at the Sustainability Festival which was held in old Katoomba Library on Sunday 22nd. All chairs sported a flyer before the audience appeared, they also had a little spot on a stall AND the ABC shared advertising space on a jacket too!
